As production resumes for many motion pictures, short films and other filming projects, there are still concerns about how to proceed when starting a project. Whether you’re a studio backed project, have union cast and crew or you’re a short film with a budget coming out of the producer’s pocket, we’ve attached industry recommendations from the Utah Film Commission, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and the Union recommendations (SAG-AFTRA, DGA, IATSE & the Teamsters unions).
Will these recommendations hinder production? Yes, they will, however, this hindrance pales in comparison to that fact that the health and safety of all involved should be (before, now and forever) our number one priority – even before story, a specific shot and so on.
Our production company, Silver Screen Cinema Productions has certainly felt the strain of COVID, however, the health and safety of our Family Members and Friends has always been and continues to be our highest priority. Yes, the cost of our projects has gone up, the time needed to complete the projects has increased, but we’re okay with that.
We’ve been doing our best to implement the recommendations set down on the included White Papers, not because we’re forced to do so, but because we care about all those involved.
We hope that you find the included recommendations helpful in setting up your productions, at whatever scale they may be.
We hope all of you can get back to work soon if you’re not already. We hope y’all are staying safe.
